We had waited a long time, but we were finally arriving at the Ningaloo reef! We had spent hours watching YouTube videos of people having amazing experiences in this area and it really contributed to us going on this trip in the first place!
First up, we were staying at 14 Mile beach, although I didn’t get the measuring tape out. To be honest, we weren’t really sure what to expect from the Ningaloo, but we hadn’t really expected the reef to be a kilometre out from the beach and it being a bit windy… lucky we have the drone!

Seeing the reef from above gave a whole new perspective on the area and the colours really did live up to expectations!

We did however, have a little bit of a doozy in terms of campsites. We had booked on one site for our first and third nights, but the night in between was unavailable! This lead to some musical chairs, but nothing we couldn’t handle. A quick walk to the top of the sand dunes gave us our first taste of Ningaloo Coast sunsets and it didn’t fail to deliver!

Steve even paddled the SUP out to the reef in efforts to kickstart his fishing for the west coast, but although a lot of effort was put in, he was largely unsuccessful.
Overall, this was a good start to our Ningaloo coast adventures and we were excited for the even better coastline to come!
